BRIGHTEVERYDAY To Be the Best That You Can Be

Maybe we should step back and look at just how ridiculous we appear. Have we not just come though the most awful time in our lives, with untold sorrow and grief, and here we are behaving like reprobates and reprehensible delinquents! Let us set the record straight.

We have left the EU Mr Barnier, by a democratic vote, and we have not asked for a Two-Year extension, to either reconsider, or endure your monotonous insulting behaviour, and divisive convulsions. How does he propose to build a new relationship after such profanities and misguided, deliberately befuddling, interventions?

We have more important, and vital considerations of state, than to endure the Muppet Show of politics and the adversarial jousting with Media and the Press, and the various Opposition imprecations, often found searching for transparency, identity and purpose. It is an insult to the electorate, and it derides the gravity of the national predicament; it suggests an arrogant and profligate intervention by disaffected groups, for solely political ends. Constantly dragged backwards, by those who still seek to re-invent their office and power bases, despising the new world, one where they are exposed and dispossessed, they insidiously and unpalatably slink in the shadows, plotting disruption, and mayhem. They are the nemesis to democracy and integrity, the Malcontents! Why astute, incisive, and philosophical leadership, in some new cloak, does not prevail, seizing the opportunity to lead, is beyond comprehension.

Let us not take a leaf from their book, rather examine what democracy is, and how it should be revered, accepted unequivocally, and indeed, protected from the “Lizards” and the cowardice of self-interest groups. This is a time of remorse, reflection, and profound abstraction, compelling us to seek and plan a new direction for society, leading us to a fairer, sagacious, responsible and connected world, the vaunted world of hope. and opportunity for all. We have an intrinsic human right to self-determination, and sharing in the spoils of an abundant planet, so rich in natural resources.

With that privilege comes responsibility, an obligation to understand and protect our environment, and a duty of care to others, to teach and to listen, to transcend meaningless acts of selfishness, avarice, possessiveness, and covetousness. It is incumbent on all, to show great fortitude and generosity in being and spirit, to embrace a One World ethos, and work towards restoring the natural cycle of living organisms, of air, sea, and earth.

We can forge new relationships and dialogues, share our natural resources, share skills and knowledge, fostering kinship and understanding, all leading to harmony, regeneration, and accord, so abundant and bountiful in the natural world.

We must never ignore the repetition, longevity, and wonder of the recurring cycle of nature, of growth, untold, enigmatic, and wondrously arcane themes, of universal order. Take time to appreciate the land, your garden, allotment, and the growing of plants, of vegetables and fruits, such riches of the soil and so vital for life. There are immeasurable rewards in growing and reaping the rewards, of sowing seeds and understanding the energy, durability, and sustainability, of preparing and restitution, in the joys of our endeavour. Much illumination and learning, reparation, and humility, are the currency of simple toil and diligence in natures kitchen. It is extensive and profuse, as are the seas and skies, so rich in diversity and splendour.

When one looks at the geological history of our planet, witness the layers of history or epochs, from the Pre-Cambrian to the current period, we examine the multitude of sedimentary layers of life, the geological strata, the stages depicting the stretches of time. We must reflect on the significance of such eras, and of course, what they illuminate, and signify in each epoch. Should we survive as a planet, it would be interesting to contemplate the sedimentary layers of modern times! Rather than fossils, and exalted treasured layers of time, one could imagine a hideous layer of real unconformity of colossal scale, a concoction of plastic, compressed toxic dust and debris, and multifarious signs of abuse and contamination.

Perhaps a metaphor, but one worthy of urgent consideration!

There is an urgency, therefore, in educating, and understanding the complex eco-system we inhabit, and appreciate history and our natural world, a world full of energy and regeneration, but a world in danger, of neglect and sustained abuse. It deserves our collective sagacious attention, interventions, and respect.

We can change that pattern and habit through awareness, global participation, and concerted action. All age groups have a role to play, parents and their children, schools and educational institutions, governments, and international bodies, throughout the world. It engenders a better world, one of knowledge and communication, mutualism, connectivity, and collaboration, one that articulates a new socialism and respect of all the natural, growing world. It asks for supreme effort and unyielding commitment, to be the best, that we can be.
