BRIGHTEVERYDAY Reaching Out

From Acorns mighty Oak trees grow! From individuals communities grow, from communities townships then nations grow. More than ever, this is a time to strengthen our ties, our awareness of the needs of others, and the common good. The NHS has attracted substantial numbers of volunteers in a show of compassion, respect, and public-spiritedness. It reflects the resolve of the nation in uncertain times, a sense of connection, and a higher collective consciousness. Great acts of kindness, selflessness and generosity suggest an engagement with the community at large in a way which gives great hope for a new dawn. A mark of esteem and a recognition of the part we all play in helping to connect to each other, forging a pathway to a brighter future.

We can take such inspiration from the good people who have worked so hard saving lives in such trying circumstances and witness grief and death of so many. It has been a cataclysmic event throughout the World, and it calls on all our resources to contemplate the human impact and consequences for us all. It challenges us to channel energy and resources towards the common good in what unites us rather then divide. The world has a different shape about it and so does each nation. It heralds new opportunities and challenges in the way we chose to live or lives at all levels, it has allowed many the time to contemplate new shared values and responsibilities to those less fortunate and able, to provoke dynamic political and economic change. We have seen humility, solidarity, and connectivity and with our joint efforts it can move from where we are now, to a fairer more equitable, inclusive society. We have that energy if we chose to ask the question. Never has there been a more poignant and deserving moment for real change. We need Government to now ensure the level playing field, drop party ideologies, and deliver on their election cry, a manifesto promising ONE nation.

The most notable change in looking out on this vastly different landscape is one altogether quieter, more solemn, slower in movement and mobility. Circumspect and very aware of the virus still surrounding us, we will emerge from this, shape new relationships in our communities, individually, in groups, and reinforce connectivity in the nation as a whole, indeed, the world. It should prompt us to actively engage in understanding our world, the fragility of our ecosystems and the vital role of biodiversity. We have an obligation to understand and respect the oceans around us and all the rich resources of the natural world, how it is shaped and carved for us all to play our part as equal partners and custodians.
