Good people are haunted, humbled by the Coronavirus Pandemic and the tentacles of its destructive force. The random infliction of disease and pain, often resulting in death, cast a long shadow over the world. It shines a light on the bravery and skills of all the dedicated people working in all sectors, medical, care, logistics, government officials, volunteers, and those who have continued to work to ensure our safety and well-being. Some have been at the very front line, the interface of the virus and victims, treating, now testing, researching, and analysing, all extremely dangerous and selfless, courageous, altruistic actions

This is the public spiritedness and humanity, throughout our shared history, of dedication and philanthropy, embracing social reform and enlightenment, acts of great courage and fortitude, graciousness, generosity, and sublime wisdom. There are those who inspire and raise hope, set example by their benign knowing and encouragement. They raise awareness and standards, solicit understanding of human frailties and shortcomings, whilst offering towering strength, sagacious insight, and morality, promoting a level of civility, esteemed values, obligation, and kinship amongst humankind. They are prerequisites of an inclusive, evolved society, one which creates and supports a framework of fairness, equality, and peace.

Contrast that with the culture of possession and selfishness, social and economic inequality, conceit, and hedonism. How it exists and perpetuated. is as ugly as the condition itself. Self-loving and adoring, devoid of principles and humility, such aberrations of modern times are transparent and easily eroded then extinguished. Weakness and vanity, often creates sycophantic groups, masking true, deep emotions, engendered by insecurity, low esteem, and inadequacy. Similar groups support, and promote each other, clinging on for dear life, to their treasured, egocentric, but ignominious and meaningless world. Individually we can break it down. It has no place in a progressive, socially responsible, harmonious, egalitarian world.

There is great currency in a peace and tranquillity, a place where we can escape the pressures and expectations of modern living. When we finally throw off the cloak of consumerism and Capitalism, what freedoms and opportunities awaits us, and what challenges and uncertainties fears us? We, as individuals, have such strength: our lives have often been channelled and coerced into packages, recipients of unlimited bombastic profanities, advertising gurus, and commercial bombardment of irrelevant trivia, all supporting an unsustainable elitism and intellectual impoverishment. Reach out and discover yourself, your true self! Think of new boundaries and aspirations, of purposeful involvement and challenge, of healthy and rewarding social engagement, but more so, of connecting and sharing in our natural world.

We have so many gifts and must never be afraid to push our boundaries. Our health, both mind and body, intricately and infinitely interwoven with the environment we create and inhabit, deserves, and thrives on, nurturing, stimulation, and new experiences. Humans are extremely agile, inventive, resourceful, and creative; we have an unlimited reserve still to fully explore, and so deserve a full life, to be individuals, and not to be “herded”, or used as commercial bait, feeding the voracity and riches of the unscrupulous few.
